In this episode we will talk about The Power of Vision.

The power of vision lies in its ability to serve as a roadmap to success. 

Think of it as a detailed picture of your desired future. 

This mental image not only motivates you but also helps you make decisions aligned with your goals. 

It's like a compass, keeping you on course even when faced with obstacles. 

It serves as a reminder of the bigger picture, guiding your actions toward long-term achievement. 

 

We talk about:

  • Google says that the vision is the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom.
  • Each of us is unique, original, one of a kind, and there will never be another person just like you . The dreams you have, the longings that you have were meant for you.  
  • Two signals of vision: Longing and Discontent
  • The power of our vision is first doing a realistic assessment of where we are right now and looking at the current results of our life.
  • Two ways to live our life: Create the results of our life and by default.
  • Vision comes power,  with your vision comes clarity. That is how you live your life by design.
  • Listening to ourself and asking ourselves questions is really how we get into this designing our life.
  • To harness the power of vision effectively, it's important to develop a clear and realistic vision, communicate it to others, and take consistent action to bring it to fruition. Vision, when combined with determination and strategic planning, can be a potent force for personal and collective growth and achievement.

Today we're talking about vision and the power of vision and being a visionary in your life. Google says that the vision is the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom. And when you give yourself permission to dream, to imagine the life you would absolutely love living, it opens up possibility and inspiration and guidance from sources both seen and unseen.

 

The power of a vision for your life is in believing that what you can imagine. What you are dreaming of is not only possible, but it's your responsibility to create it. Each of us is unique, original, one of a kind, and there will never be another person just like you . The dreams you have the longings that you have were meant for you.   Your life is Sending you signals your life is speaking to you.

 

Your vision is calling you and it does this with two signals of growth longing and discontent. Reverend dr. Michael Beth Beckwith has this quote that I love " we are either pushed  by our pain or pulled from a vision". And that's really the two ways of looking at this. One is the pain of the life we're living, the pain of not having the full expression of the vision for our life and the pull of the vision of the life that we would absolutely love.

 

And the middle of those, we go back and forth between those throughout our day, throughout our life. And so pay attention to these two signals, your longing. The callings that you have, the things that you would love in your life, what's working in your life and what you would want more of.

 

And the discontent, the things that you don't like in yourself, the things that you don't like in your life, the things that you would like less of, the things that you would like to change. And both of these signals. The longing and the discontent are both requirements for growth and they're both inputs into creating the vision for your life.

 

 To create this vision, to be pulled from your vision, we have to first know where we are. You have to know what, where you are in your life. Where are you feeling longings? Where are you feeling discontent? And I like to walk my clients through this process of a life assessment.

 

And I really do believe that the power of our vision is first doing a realistic assessment of where we are right now and looking at the current results of our life. Which is input about the pain that we're having in our life, being pushed by the pain, the discontent that we're having in our life, but also the longings that we would want more of and the things that are really working in our life.

 

So by doing this life assessment, by looking at your current results in your life. That's where you can start by knowing where the starting point is the best place to start in creating the vision. So we're always creating results in our life, in our day, hour by hour, day by day, week by week, year by year.

 

We are creating results as long as we're living, we're creating results in our life. Some of these results we love. And some of these results, not so much. And when we are creating a vision, and when we are living from a vision, we are living our life on purpose. We're living our life in the power of the vision of what's possible for us and for our life.

 

There's two ways to live our life, to create the results of our life. One is by default, going with the flow, rolling with the punches, taking each day as it comes, being reactive to life and all the things that happen in our day versus living life by design. Which is creating your life on purpose, creating the vision of the life that you would love and going about  implementing it, creating your life by design.  And all highly successful people do this. All visionary leaders do this. This is how you open up to the possibility for what for your life and for your dreams is by living life by design. Designing the life that you would love. And it starts by noticing these two signals of growth, your longing and your discontent.

 

So when you do this assessment, this life assessment of your current results. It's all the input for your vision. So I like to look at our life in these four quadrants, and this is what I have my clients do. The four quadrants are these great sort of buckets of our life. That's a good way. I believe to do this assessment of our current results and create the vision of the life that we would love.

 

So the first quadrant is health and well being. And this is how you are in your life with your health, with your physical health, with your emotional health, with your spiritual health. This is how you take care of yourself with your exercise, your eating, your morning routines or evening routines. So think about where you are right now in the quadrant of health and well being.

 

And think about what you would love in the quadrant of health and well being. Would you love more energy? Would you love to pop out of bed with vibrance and energy for the day? Would you love to have time for journaling for meditation? Would you love to take yoga? Would you love to take a run every morning or go out in nature?

 

Would you like to run a marathon, do a training of some kind, start a new class or exercise routine, or maybe you're having some struggles in your health area, some challenges that you're experiencing. What would you love to overcome in that ? What would complete, full, vibrant health look and feel like for you in your life?

 

 Take look at your current results in your health and well being and ask.  notice your longings and notice your discontents. What would you love more of in your health? And what would you like less of? What are your discontents? And do that same assessment of your results in all four of these quadrants.

 

So the first one is health and well being, which is what I just said. The second one is your love and relationships. All  the people that are in your life. Your romantic partner or the longing of a romantic partner. Your relationships with your family, with your friends. What would you love more of?

 

Where is your discontent? Where is a longing in this area of love and relationships? Maybe you have great relationships. You're feeling good about everything, but you know, you would love more in that area. So in the quadrant of love and relationships really take some time to do this assessment of your current results and notice your logins and your discontent and then do it in the fourth quadrant of career, or you can call it vocation or creative expression, the work that you do in the world, whether it's paid or unpaid, but how you express yourself in your life and in the world, the contributions that you're making in the world.

 

And what would you love in this area? If you could be anything that you want, if you could do anything that you want, if you could have anything that you want in your life, what would that be? What would you be showing up?

 

What would be the work that you're contributing in the world? So notice again here, what are your longings? What would you love? And the discontents, what is pulling at you? What is the pain that's pushing you in this area? Where would you like to improve? Where would you like to have different results or better results in this quadrant?

 

And then the fourth quadrant to time and money freedom. Now, I know for all of us, this is part of our vision to have the time to do the things that we would love to do, to have the freedom, the financial freedom, the emotional freedom, the schedule freedom, the calendar freedom to live this full spectrum spend time with the people that we want  to have enough financial abundance that we can have the house of our dreams, that we can go where we want to go, that we can have the vacations that we want to have, that we can start the charitable foundation that we have been Envisioning so that we can make the contribution, whatever that is for you when you think about having the time and money freedom that you would love. What is your vision in that area? And notice where you are right now in that area, your current results. Most of us have either more time than money or more money than time. And I think for a lot of us, What we're longing for is a balance so that we have time to do the things that we love and then we have money to pay for the things that we would love.

 

So both of these inputs of longing and discontent in these four quadrants is really looking at The current results of your life, what you would love more of, what you would like less of, and from there you can create the vision. And the most powerful question that you can ask yourself in creating your vision for the life that you would absolutely love living is this.

 

What would you love? What would you love in your health and well being? What would you love in your love and relationships? What would you love in your vocation, in your career, in your creative expression in the world? And what would you love with time and money freedom? And when you ask yourself this question, and when you listen and take time, to listen to your life, to these two signs and signals of growth, your longing and your discontent, and answer that question, what would you love?

 

Then you can start creating the vision. of the life that was meant for you. When you give yourself permission to dream, to imagine the life that you would love, it opens up possibility and inspiration and guidance from all sources in your life, seen and unseen. And the power of a vision is in believing that what you can imagine, that what you're dreaming of is not only possible for you.

 

But it's your responsibility to create it. Each of us is unique, original, one of a kind. There will never be another person just like you in your dreams. We're meant for  your longings, your discontent are all signs and signals of the life that is meant for you. And when you pay attention to this, and when you notice, the results in your current life.

 

That is how you can start creating the vision and living from the vision and be less pushed by your pain and more being pulled from your vision. Because with your vision creates clarity and clarity is power and power is what fuels Creating our vision. So that is the power of a vision. That's why it's so important to have a vision.

 

And that is your responsibility to create it. And remember, we're always creating results in our life. Either by default, living the status quo of life, staying comfortable in our day to day routine. Sometimes living a good life, but not a great life. Not the life we would absolutely love. Living life by default, living life in our comfort zone, but living life by design, deciding for your vision, stepping into your vision and designing the life that's in alignment with your vision, that is powerful and scary.

 

And a lot of people, I would say most people don't do that. And most people, live the same year over and over again living life by default, living life in the status quo, living life as it comes versus living life by design. Deciding for the life that you would love, designing the life that you would love, stepping fully into the vision of your fullest expression of yourself and of your life, answering the call of what would you love, and listening for those two signs and signals of growth, your dream is speaking to you.

 

Your vision is calling you, and it's your responsibility to answer the call, to listen to your life, and to let your imagination go. Your dreams are meant for you, and it's your responsibility to create them. And the power of your vision will be the fuel that will help you create this. And so... I would love for you to choose to live your life by design instead of by default, so that when you look back three years from now, what would you love in your health and well being?

 

What would you love in your relationships and love? What would you love in your career, in your creative expression, in your vocation? And what would you love in your time and money freedom? And once you really answer that question and create your vision and step into the power of the possibility of the life that you're imagining, that's when you come alive.

 

That's when you're fully living your life. And I love this quote by Howard Thurman, and he says, " Don't ask what the world needs, ask what makes you come alive". because what the world needs is more people who have come alive. So go do that. Live the life that makes you come alive. And it starts with your vision.

 

And with your vision comes power. And with your vision comes clarity. And that is how you live. Your life by design. So your life is calling to you right now. And what I would love for you is to do this exercise of looking at your current results, looking at your longings and your discontents.
